AARP program brings monthly exercise routine to your home
AARP Virginia is now helping its members — and older Americans anywhere — learn and use exercise routines that can help their muscles retain and even improve strength and flexibility. Not only that, ongoing exercise serves one of AARP’s six pillars of brain health. “Strength and Stretch” is a monthly 30-minute class that you can perform in your own home, using objects you have on hand to add weight and resistance.

The classes are led by AARP Virginia volunteer Denise Brown, now retired from a career as a physical education teacher and a former fitness instructor. To demonstrate that these exercises are appropriate for participants 50-plus, AARP volunteers also take part in the presentation.
The Strength and Stretch workout is designed to suit various fitness levels through exercise modifications that are demonstrated during the program. For anyone participating in such activities, AARP urges you to consult with a physician before engaging in any new exercise regimen.
The Strength and Stretch programs are presented on the first Monday of each month at 5:30 pm Eastern, and the next one is scheduled for May 1. See all upcoming dates and register here: https://aarp.cvent.com/VAHealthyLiving
