You might not be able to teach old dog new tricks but, if you’re a job seeker, you might be surprised what lessons you can learn from a puppy!

AARP’s upcoming free webinar “Joy Unleashed: Lessons a Dog Taught an Unemployed Baby Boomer,” will feature the inspiring true-life story of a dog named Bella who helped her owned Jean Baur find a sense of belonging and confidence after being downsized by her job.

Everyone who registers and attends the live webinar, which is based on a new book by Ms. Bauer, will receive a complimentary e-copy of the book, “Joy Unleashed, The Story of Bella, and the Unlikely Therapy Dog.”

Ms. Baur, who is also a career coach, will share how volunteering with Bella gave her “a way to work” by connecting her to her community, helped build her self-esteem and taught her life lessons. She also will teach job seekers how to find joy and purpose and take questions live

This webinar is part of AARP’s nationwide educational effort to help 50+ job seekers strengthen their skills and those who already have a job gain new skills.

AARP recently unveiled a new tool – the Digital Skills Inventory -- that will help job seekers learn what digital skills they need and how to strengthen them. The free tool can be accessed at: In addition, free online games that will help job seekers strengthen their skills are available at:

For those who cannot attend the webinar live, a link to a recording of the webinar will be e-mailed.
