National Military Appreciation Month: Easley Smith

Mr. Easley Smith was born on a farm in 1924 near Crewe, Virginia. In 1942 when he was a cadet at VPI, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. During the war, and at the age of 20 years, he flew his B-24 bomber named "Rocky" along with his crew of 9 airmen, on 25 bombing missions against the Germans. He went on to have a long career as a faculty member in the Agricultural Engineering Department at Virginia Tech. AARP Virginia would like to wish Mr. Easley Smith continued blessings as he celebrates his 96th Birthday on May 16th!
