Roanoke Valley Meals on Wheels Needs Volunteers

Roanoke _ The need for Meals on Wheels continues to grow rapidly in the Roanoke Valley.  More routes have been added and thus more volunteers are needed to fill these routes.  It takes 40 volunteers every day to deliver meals to 600 homebound seniors in our community.

The program allows for various volunteer schedules.  Some volunteers deliver as much as once per week and some as little as once per month but no matter what the commitment every little bit helps.  Volunteers start their deliveries around 10 am and the route takes between one to two hours.  Do you have two hours a day that you can deliver meals to the homebound seniors in your community?

For more information about becoming a Meals-on-Wheels volunteer, contact Michele Daley at the LOA Area Agency on Aging at (540) 345-0451.

LOA is a local private non-profit organization serving Alleghany, Botetourt, Craig and Roanoke Counties and the cities of Covington, Roanoke and Salem.  Our mission is to help older persons remain as independent for as long as possible.  Through 25 community based services we are able to effectively carry out our mission statement by providing nutrition, education, advocacy and socialization.  The LOA is a 501(c)(3) agency.
