The Virginia Department of Elections (ELECT) will host the Voters with Disabilities Engagement Expo on April 30 to promote awareness about the wide variety of resources available to assist members of the disability community with the voting process.

The event will connect citizens with voter education information and provide networking opportunities for voters and members of the elections community. Attendees will be able to move through the expo, view demonstrations, engage hands-on with accessible voting equipment, pick up voter outreach information, and interact directly with Department of Elections staff and equipment vendors to get answers to their elections-related questions.

ELECT staff will be on hand to provide non-partisan information about elections accessibility, curbside voting, absentee voting/annual application options, Virginia Voter Pocket Guides, and more.
“We are excited to offer the opportunity to ensure that the voting process is accessible to all Virginia voters,” said Christopher E. Piper, Department of Elections Commissioner. “We want to make sure that voters are informed about the resources that are available to them.”

Additionally, several agencies serving the disability community will also be on site to provide information about their resources which include: Aging and Rehabilitative Services, the Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired, the Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and the disability Law Center of Virginia.
