For the 2016 election cycle, AARP is focusing on updating Social Security for future generations. The AARP Take A Stand initiative is urging the candidates for president to lead on Social Security and give voters real answers about how they'll keep the program strong now and into the future. We're engaging thousands of volunteers across the nation and holding the candidates accountable through social media, advertising and outreach to national and local newspapers, television and radio stations.
AARP has a proud 30-year history of non-partisan voter engagement. AARP does not endorse candidates, contribute money to campaigns, or have a Political Action Committee. Rather, it urges candidates to tell voters about their positions on issues that matter to Americans age 50-plus and their families, and AARP informs its members and the general public about the candidates' positions. The organization encourages its members and the voting public to exercise their constitutional right to vote.
