Petersburg_ Join AARP Virginia at Virginia State University’s (VSU) 5 th Annual VSU Cares Mobile Dental and Health Expo. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, April 9 at Virginia State University, 4 th Avenue, Petersburg, Virginia 23803.

The theme for this year’s expo is “Promoting Good Health and Health Careers.” This is a community wide event that provides medical services while promoting health awareness for people who do not have access to primary care. In addition, this event will allow participants to connect with local health care providers and nonprofits.

“An event such as the VSU Cares that brings health services to those who may not have access is important to the community,” said AARP Virginia State President Bob Blancato.

AARP Virginia will be one of the sponsors for VSU Cares along with many other organizations. There will be representatives from The American Heart Association, Alzheimer’s Association, Capital Area Health Education Center, Veteran’s Administration and many more.

Dental screenings for children aged 1-12 and screenings for high blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, obesity and HIV will be offered. A local cardiologist will be present for hands-on CPR learning sessions. A panel will discuss healthy eating, health careers, and also will answer questions. This event is free and requires no pre-registration.
