Clock is Ticking on Important Issues This Legislative Session

AARP honors local family caregiver Stuart Seibel of Yakima with the Washington state "Portrait of Care".

Den nis Shoemaker of Tumwater has been selected to receive the 2015 AARP Washington Andrus Award for Community Service -- the Association’s most prestigious and visible state volunteer award for community service.

AARP Washington and more than 40 other advocacy and community service services organizations that advocate and serve thousands of older adults in King County and the State of Washington are deeply concerned that United Way’s new funding priorities will no longer include investments in programs that serve older adults and people with disabilities.

Millions of Americans are caring for an older parent or loved one, helping them to live independently at home – where they want to be. These caregivers have a big job but we can help with some basic support—and commonsense solutions—to make their big responsibilities a little bit easier. That’s why AARP urges state lawmakers to pass Senate Bill 6327, known as the Caregiver Advise, Record, Enable (CARE) Act and help family caregivers as their loved ones go into the hospital and as they transition home.
