AARP Washington is seeking nominations for the 2014 AARP State Andrus Award for Community Service. The association’s most prestigious volunteer tribute recognizes outstanding individuals who are sharing their experience, talents and skills to enrich the lives of others. If you know of an outstanding volunteer, we want to hear about them!

Dental, vision and medical healthcare providers are asked to volunteer their services for Seattle/King County Clinic with Remote Area Medical®: a free 4-day clinic to be held at Seattle Center on October 23 – 26, 2014.

Walt Bow en of Olympia has been selected by AARP Washington to receive our state's 2013 AARP Washington State Andrus Award for Community Service -- the Association’s most prestigious and visible state volunteer award for community service.

NRTA : AARP’s Educator Community has awarded the 2013 With Our Youth! Dedication Award to Brenda Leider of Mountlake Terrace, WA. Brenda is recognized for her outstanding work with the Marysville School District English Language Learner Penpal Program.

AARP Tax-Aide Needs You!

As the newest member of AARP’s California Executive Council, Patricia Pérez is quick to answer why she joined this team of leadership volunteers that shapes and executes the organization's statewide priorities: “Everything from employment opportunities, to encouraging outdoor activities, to philanthropy and volunteerism; so many things that have a personal value to me, is available through AARP.”

Consumers lose billions of dollars every year to various kinds of consumer fraud, and according to AARP studies, older adults are especially vulnerable. A 2011 survey of fraud victims found that 81% of investment fraud victims and 84% of lottery fraud victims were over the age of 55.
