For the third consecutive year, AARP West Virginia and the MetroNews Radio Network are again partnering to recognize some of the state’s best and brightest student athletes through the AARP West Virginia Scholar Athlete of the Week program.
In connection with AARP’s I Heart Caregivers initiative, AARP West Virginia will host a free screening of the 2014 major motion picture “Still Alice” 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 16, at The Metropolitan Theater, 369 High St., Morgantown.

Annual award recognizes those making a difference in communities
AARP staff and volunteers from West Virginia and across the nation converged in Washington April 19 to deliver petitions containing more than 26,000 signatures at the U.S. Department of Labor in support of a conflict of interest standard, following the release of a proposed rule in early April. The petition delivery kicked off several days of AARP activity in the Nation’s Capital.
During the 2015 West Virginia Legislative session, AARP West Virginia was successful in championing passage of House Bill 2100 - The Caregiver, Advise, Record, Enable (CARE) Act.
