AARP West Virginia and a coalition of other organizations — including anti-hunger advocates, farmers and businesses — successfully advocated this year for an additional $360,000 in the state budget to help older adults facing food insecurity.
AARP West Virginia has announced an exciting partnership with the MetroNews Radio Network, focused on recognizing West Virginia high school student athletes for outstanding achievement in athletics, the classroom and in communities across the Mountain State.
AARP West Virginia and the AARP Foundation are partnering with more than 30 organizations, including the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, Federal Trade Commission, and FINRA Investor Education Foundation to promote financial wellness during 2013 West Virginia MoneySmart Week®, April 20 - 27. West Virginia Money Smart Week ®(MSW) is part of a multi-state public awareness campaign of the Federal Reserve Bank that stresses the importance of financial literacy, informs consumers where they can get help, and provides free educational seminars and activities in multiple locations during a selected week each year.
AARP West Virginia state leaders are pleased with the results of the 2013 West Virginia Legislature, with West Virginians 50+ benefiting from legislative action in the areas of livable communities, caregiving, home and community-based services, and consumer issues.
