The AARP Pickleball Clinic Tour is coming to Cheyenne from 9 a.m. to noon on September 28. This event will take place at The Picklr, located at 3471 East Lincolnway Avenue, and is free, but limited to the first 100 people who sign up by clicking here.

The clinics will consist of an on-court guided session with licensed instructors and focus on warm-up, basic technique, skills building, and gameplay for players of all levels. Pickleball is a fun way to connect with friends, stay fit* and support your brain to help your health and happiness live as long as you do. Participants will also get a chance to learn about the six pillars for better brain health and exciting opportunities to get involved with AARP Wyoming in your community.

The Clinic kicks off with an intro to pickleball from 9-10:30 a.m. This is designed for players who are new to the sport, and our experienced instructors will guide you through the basics, from understanding the rules to practicing your paddle skills. From 10:30 to noon, there will be open play for participants. Open play is a drop-in format that allows players of all levels to practice their skills in a game format. During open play, our experienced instructors will keep things moving, directing players on and off the court by skill level. It's an opportunity for both beginners and seasoned players to enjoy the game, make new friends, and stay active.

“We love meeting our Cheyenne members, their friends, and trying something new,” said Jenn Baier, Senior Associate State Director of Outreach and Local Advocacy. “If you can’t make the Clinic, we’re also working with the Picklr to provide an interactive instructional video series via Zoom this August and September. Sign up for those (keyword Pickleball) at aarp.org/wyevents and watch back at aarp.org/wytondemand.

This event is open to the public; you do not need to be an AARP Member or 50 years old to sign up. You’re also welcome to attend, even if we saw you earlier this year at the Pickleball open house. We’d love to see you again.

For more information on the event, contact Jennifer Baier at Jbaier@aarp.org.

*Check with your doctor before starting a new exercise regimen.
