Casper's Age 50 and Over Offered a Night on the Town

The Reveille Rotary Club of Casper has partnered with AARP Wyoming, the Ramkota Hotel & Conference Center, and the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra to provide an evening out on the town for seniors (age 60+) who prefer not to drive at night. The fee for the event is $20 and includes transportation, dinner, gratuity, and admission to the concert. The Reveille Rotary Club will provide transportation to and from seniors’ homes in the Casper area to dinner and the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra evening performance Saturday, January 25, 2020.

The evening will begin with dinner at the Ramkota Hotel & Conference Center at 5:00 p.m., followed by a ride to the John F. Welsh Auditorium at Natrona County High School for the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra concert. Transportation arrangements can be made for those who already hold a symphony ticket as well as for those who need a ticket. Everyone wishing to participate must call (307) 266-1478 by January 17 to reserve a spot.

The Wyoming Symphony Orchestra’s 70th season kicks off 2020 with a celebration of revered musical traditions from the classical period — a musical movement known for its emphasis on form and structure. These pieces highlight the principles that create the steadfast foundation of orchestral music and composition.

The concert will begin with two works from father and son Leopold and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, respectively. First, Leopold Mozart’s Toy Symphony will come to life with the help of some extra special young guest soloists from Vibes Fines & Performing Arts. We follow with the explosive urgency of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s most popular symphony and one of the last he ever wrote — his Symphony No. 40.

The Wyoming Symphony Orchestra has themed this season’s performances as Celebrations. The January 25th performance entitled Celebrations of Tradition recognizes the 250^th birth year of Beethoven. Virtuosic pianist Steven Lin returns as the WSO begins their exploration of Beethoven’s music in 2020. The WSO kicks off the tribute with Beethoven’s First Piano Concerto — a shining example of the more “polite” works of the composer’s early period. Steven Lin’s distinct, fervid style will perfectly highlight the quirky complexities of the piece.
