Each year, AARP Wyoming likes to say thank you to an organization that has gone above-and-beyond to help better the lives of the state’s Age 50+. This year, the honor goes to Erin LeBlanc, the director of the Laramie County Senior Center. LeBlanc was honored during AARP Wyoming’s Volunteer Recognition Dinner in Casper on Wednesday night.

LeBlanc has been director of the Laramie County Senior Center since February of 2020. The Laramie County Senior Center served close to 40,000 congregate meals in 2023, one of three programs offered under the Laramie County Senior Services Program. In its supportive services program, the Senior Center offers help to nearly 9,500 Laramie County residents.

“Our philosophy is to be proactive in helping our older adults in whatever way we can,” says LeBlanc.

The Laramie County Senior Center is also known for its third annual Age Well Conference, which brings together Southeast Wyoming’s older adults with speakers, vendors, healthcare services, home services, and anything else that benefits our older adults. It is the premiere conference for older adults in Laramie County.

“I saw a need in Laramie County for something more than just a walk-through health fair,” she says. “We just completed our third year and we continue to see it grow and more interest in being a speaker or vendor.”

A 30-year veteran of senior services, The California native has worked with the Northeast Colorado Area Agency on Aging as a Senior Service Coordinator before following her son to Cheyenne in 2019. She has also been a Long Term Care Ombudsman, and a State Health Insurance Counselor before coming to Cheyenne.

“I have always been passionate about working with seniors,” says LeBlanc. “I enjoy advocating for them, finding alternatives to what they have tried and haven't worked.”
