Sheridan’s Janet Dill was honored Tuesday night in Casper by AARP Wyoming for her service to the state’s seniors through the Tax Aide program. 
Since 1968 the AARP Foundation has offered free tax preparation to nearly 50 million low to moderate income seniors 50 and older. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide has more than 5,000 locations in neighborhood libraries, malls, banks, community centers and senior centers all around the nation. There’s no fee, no sales pitch for other services and AARP membership is not required.
Dill is the district director for AARP Wyoming’s Tax Aide efforts in the Sheridan area, and has recently begun serving as an instructor in other areas of Northeast Wyoming. Dill has also previously been active in AARP Wyoming efforts with its driver safety program.
Dill is a retired Montana Highway Patrol officer, working her way through the ranks to become the first female to command an officer’s position. Prior to coming to Sheridan, she also volunteered in Tax-Aide and Driver Safety efforts in Montana. When not crunching numbers, she and her husband like to golf, spend time with their dog, “Dory,” and work as fishing guides on the Big Horn River.
