AARP Wyoming

Every year we send a survey to all of our volunteers. The purpose is to better understand them and learn how we can enhance the volunteer experience and create more meaningful volunteer opportunities.

National Volunteer Month serves as a poignant reminder of the selflessness of individuals who invest their time, skills, and energy into bettering the world around them.

The Andrus Award is named for AARP Founder Ethel Percy Andrus and is AARP’s most prestigious and visible volunteer award. It recognizes individuals who are sharing their experience, talent, and skills to enrich their communities in ways that are consistent with AARP’s purpose, vision, and commitment to volunteer service, and that inspire others to volunteer.

AARP Wyoming will be joined on this call by Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon and Director of the Wyoming Department of Revenue, Brenda Henson. Governor Gordon will explain why he felt it important to support property tax relief, while Henson will explain how Wyoming citizens can utilize Wyoming’s property tax relief mechanisms.

As part of the Age Friendly Program, this Director or Co-Director position will have overall strategic and operation responsibility for Age Friendly Laramie’s programs, expansion, and execution of its mission. They will initially develop a knowledge of the program as it has been and develop a plan for the future of the organization.

After multiple years of double-digit property tax increases for some in Wyoming, property tax relief was at the forefront of Wyoming Legislators' minds during the 2024 Legislative Session. In the end, four bills were passed into law, which will strongly impact Wyoming’s homeowners.

AARP Wyoming and Senior Planet, the flagship program of Older Adult Services (OATS) will host a series of online technology courses this summer. The classes move at a moderate pace so anyone can follow along, says Senior Planet trainer Johnny Hernandez.

A Walk Audit is an activity in which participants observe and evaluate a location's walkability to identify and document whether and how pedestrians can safely travel along a street, navigate an intersection, get from Point A to B to C, and so on.

Patricia, who began Volunteering with AARP Driver Safety in 2017, was part of a group dedicated to rebuilding Driver Safety in Wyoming after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
