AARP Eye Center
We're proud to host three free screenings of the new film Cesar Chavez on March 27, 28, and 29 in Los Angeles, Whittier, and South Gate. The movie, directed by Diego Luna, is a cinematic portrait of the well-known union and civil rights leader. Admission is free, but space is limited and RSVPs are required.
The film stars Michael Peña in the title role, along with America Ferrera, Rosario Dawson, and John Malkovich. Cesar Chavez tells the story of the famed civil rights leader and labor organizer torn between his duties as a husband and father and his commitment to securing a living wage for farm workers.
Our Los Angeles screening will also feature a VIP reception and discussion with Robert Egger, Founder and President of L.A. Kitchen, and Rudy Espinoza, Executive Director, Leadership for Urban Renewal Network (LURN), Celebrating the Legacy of Cesar Chavez: Driving Toward Community Empowerment in Los Angeles. This will be an engaging conversation on how we find holistic solutions to interrelated priorities—hunger, income, housing and isolation—to better serve the 50+ population in communities throughout the city.
