AARP Day at the Ballpark Events Planned for July in Cedar Rapids and Des Moines

AARP members are invited to bring the family and join AARP staff, volunteers and members for " AARP Day at the Ballpark"  at two Iowa stadiums this July.

Member baseball fans and their guests will be able to take advantage of ticket deals in Cedar Rapids and Des Moines, meet AARP Iowa state team members at an AARP table on the concourse at each stadium, learn more about what AARP is doing in their community, and pick up their free AARP gift.*

"We're excited to offer Iowa members and their families these local sports discounts and the opportunity to engage with AARP staff, volunteers and members while enjoying the great game of baseball," said AARP State Director Kent Sovern.

Iowa Cubs - Sunday, July 19
The I-Cubs will be playing against the Memphis Redbirds, the Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals.  Game time is 1:05 p.m.  AARP members and their guests can buy $6 Reserved Grandstand tickets by calling the front office at (515) 243-6111 and asking for Brian or Ella.  The deadline to order tickets is Wednesday, July 15th.  Visit the I-Cubs website for more on Sundays at Principal Park.

Cedar Rapids Kernels - Saturday, July 25
The Kernels will be playing the Beloit Snappers, minor league affiliate of the Oakland Athetics. Game time is 6:35 p.m.  Stop by the AARP table on the concourse to pick up a free voucher* good for a Snack (candy bar, popcorn, chips) and a Soda or water. AARP members can buy club level tickets at a reduced rate of  $8; or plaza (bleacher) seating for $6.  Discounted AARP tickets can be purchased by calling the Kernels ticket office at (319) 896-7560, or go to Kernels.com, click on tickets & promotions, select July 25, and type in promo code:  “memberclub” for club tickets; and “memberplaza.” for plaza tickets.
