AARP MA State Director Receives Prestigious Award from Small Business Administration

Mike Festa, AARP Massachusetts state director, received the prestigious District Director's Award at the 2014 Massachusetts Small Business Association Awards breakfastin Randolph on May 13.

In addition, AARP Massachusetts was honored for its joint work with the SBA and SCORE to provide resources and programming support to Encore Entrepreneurs, a program that links Americans over age 50 with small business development resources—both online and in-person—including live workshops, conferences, and mentoring programs to give them the support they need to start or grow a business.

AARP supports developing opportunities for experienced workers to pursue entrepreneurship as a means to generate income, boost financial security and assist others in meeting needs. Through the guidance and resources that AARP offers, entrepreneurs age 50+ discover the “Real Possibilities” that are on the horizon as they start or grow a small business.

The SBA awards breakfast event was part of National Small Business Week, which recognizes the contributions of companies that contribute to and transform their communities.
