NEW YORK, N.Y. – AARP New York State Director Beth Finkel issued the following statement today in response to news that Mayor Adams and the City Council have come to an agreement on New York City’s Fiscal Year 2025 budget:

Quick-action grants aim to help communities become more livable for people of all ages
Each year, AARP works in partnership with local leaders, organizations, and dedicated residents to help make that vision a reality. As part of that effort, AARP is excited to announce the largest investment of grant dollars to date through the AARP Community Challenge grant program. More than $3.8 million in quick-action grants are being distributed to 343 projects across all 50 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Hundreds of AARP employees and volunteers from all 50 states and nearly two dozen actors from The Creative Coalition went to Capitol Hill on June 26, 2024 to urge elected representatives to support family caregivers.
AARP Florida recently named Rima Nathan, Director of Florida State University’s Claude Pepper Elder Law Clinic, a Florida Fraud Fighter of distinction at their Opening Minds Through Art event, held June 21.
