LANSING, Mich. – AARP Michigan announced today its endorsement of Proposal 1 on the Aug. 5statewide ballot, which stabilizes funding for local government services, helps small businesses without raising taxes and modernizes Michigan’s tax system.

The AARP Listens to Michigan Tour will hit the road again this month and will make stops in Lansing, Grand Rapids, Traverse City, Detroit, Marquette, Kalamazoo and Jackson.

LANSING – A new free resource for Michigan families about protecting seniors from abuse and neglated in nursing homes is now available, according to State Attorney General Bill Schuette.

The Michigan Public Service Commission is warning consumers of a telephone scam that demands people immediately pay energy bills using prepaid credit cards.Consumers should never give out personal information, including financial account numbers or social security numbers, over the phone or internet to someone they do not know.

Free tickets are still available for the innovative and threatrical Second Wind Tour, which makes stops in the Detroit and Ann Arbor areas on May 7 and 8.

AARP filed an amicus brief late this afternoon with the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in each of seven appeals filed in the Detroit bankruptcy case, according to AARP Michigan State Director Jacqueline Morrison.
