A chance to walk, bike, skate and dance through the heart of San Jose—on seven miles of traffic-free streets—is set for Sept. 17, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Viva Calle is a free annual event that closes the streets to cars so people can come out for music, food, culture and exercise. The activities will snake through Japantown, Mexican Heritage Plaza and other communities. AARP California is cosponsoring the event and will have an information table at the plaza.
Viva Calle underscores the importance of safe streets and age-friendly cities, high priorities for AARP. For details, go to vivacallesj.org.
