As of November 1, 2025, millions of Americans—including many older adults—may not receive their monthly food benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. This disruption affects individuals living on fixed incomes, many of whom rely on SNAP to afford groceries and maintain their health.

This November, AARP Colorado is celebrating National Family Caregivers Month with events and resources to entertain and empower caregivers across the state.
Scammers posing as IRS agents or Treasury Department officials are continuing their deceptive ways. First and foremost, it is important to remember the IRS will first contact you through the mail. If you receive a phone call or suspicious email or text from the IRS, chances are it’s a scammer posing as an IRS agent. Are you still unsure? Here are some red flags that the call, email or text you received is not really the IRS:
As February, American Heart Month, draws to a close, it’s a good time to take stock of our heart health. According to the Centers for Disease Control, more than 67 million Americans have high blood pressure, making them four times more likely to suffer a stroke, and three times more likely to die of a heart attack. There are many drivers of high blood pressure including hormones, stress, diet, and lack of exercise, but the bottom line is high blood pressure can have dangerous consequences, resulting in a buildup of plaque, inflammation, and a weakening of the heart over time.
