Cryptocurrency scams have surged in recent years, with billions stolen annually. One of the biggest drivers of this trend? Romance scams. Scams take many forms so being aware and understanding the variety of ways criminals use to steal money can help you stay a step ahead of scams. Scammers may seek payment through hard-to-trace methods with few or no protections including gift cards, cryptocurrency, wire transfers, peer-to-peer apps and, more recently, gold bars.
Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont acknowledged the invaluable and incredibly important work of family caregivers recently by proclaiming that November 2024 is “Family Caregivers Month” in Connecticut.
AARP Connecticut has selected seven recipients of the 2024 Livable Communities Grant Program, a state extension of the national AARP Community Challenge grant initiative. Now in its seventh year, the grant program funds quick-action projects that help Connecticut’s neighborhoods, towns and cities be great places to live for people of all ages. AARP Connecticut has awarded grants for 45 projects across the state since the inception of the program in 2018.
Seven entities in Connecticut received AARP Community Challenge grants totaling $56,883. AARP Connecticut also awards grants of up to $5,000 each to similar projects.

AARP Connecticut submitted comments to the Connecticut Public Utility Regulatory Authority (PURA) regarding its proposed final decision in the docket (Docket No. 23-11-02) of Southern Connecticut Gas Company’s (SCGC) request to amend its natural gas rate schedules.
