As a charter sponsor of the 15th annual Library of Congress National Book Festival, AARP invites members in the D.C. metro area to join in the fun Sept. 5 at the Washington Convention Center.

“The book festival is one of the country’s premier events promoting literacy and reading for all ages,” said Jo Ann Jenkins, chief executive officer of AARP. “Children, parents and grandparents can engage with their favorite authors and storybook characters to open doors to new worlds of fun and discovery through reading.”

Marking the 200th anniversary of the Library of Congress’ acquisition of Thomas Jefferson’s personal library, the 2015 festival takes as its theme Jefferson’s quote, “I cannot live without books.” Authors confirmed for the event include David McCullough and Walter Isaacson.
