You can protect yourself from con artists and have fun doing it at a Scam Jam, July 11, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the YMCA in Bear, Del.

A representative from the state Attorney General’s Office will talk about fraud prevention. Radio station Mix 92.9 will be on site broadcasting statewide. Participants will be treated to refreshments, giveaways and a chance to sign up for watchdog alerts from the AARP Fraud Watch Network. There will be a shredding truck in the parking lot, and participants can bring documents for safe disposal.

The First State ranked fourth in the nation in the rate of fraud complaints last year.  For details, go to aarp.org/de.
