AARP Eye Center
Though the fate of the proposed tax reform legislation in Congress is uncertain as I write this note, what is certain is the invaluable role that AARP’s volunteer corps play in responding to myriad votes in the House and Senate this past year. No other organization has the ability to mobilize, as Ethel Percy Andrus would say, “an army of useful citizens” like AARP on issues related to advocacy, livable communities and fraud prevention.
Helping our former volunteers stay informed about AARP’s work is one goal of our Alumni Group. With that in mind, I invite you to join me for a one-hour conference call on Monday, December 18th at 2 pm ET with Kristin Keckeisen. As the leader of AARP’s Fraud Watch Network, Kristin will share insights on resources developed this past year that are helping consumers stay safe from scams and fraud. Please register here.
With the pace of today’s world, I am proud that AARP’s current and former volunteers engage both rapidly and thoughtfully through phone calls, emails and posts on social media. Each of you has a depth of experience and insights that need to be heard by elected leaders at all levels as they work on legislation that could impact those over 50 and their families.
Thank you for staying connected to AARP through our Volunteer Alumni Group. You have access to the Volunteer Portal where you can easily view and download timely resource materials. If you need any assistance using the Volunteer Portal please call AARP’s Volunteer Helpline at 866-740-7719. And I hope you will join me on December 18th for our conversation about AARP’s Fraud Watch Network!
