Select AARP members and nonmembers are invited to a free screening of Mission: Impossible - Fallout. AARP Idaho will host the showings in Ammon and Coeur d'Alene on December 13 at 6:00 pm.

On November 16, AARP members and guests are invited to a free Movies for Grownups screening of Book Club, starring Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen and Mary Steenburgen. To help people in need this season of Thanksgiving, t hose in attendance are encouraged to bring canned and boxed food to benefit the Metro Community Services food bank. AARP has announced the recipients of the 2018 AARP Community Challenge grant program, including three projects in Idaho.

Creative work from communities across the nation, including Kuna, Idaho, is showcased in the third edition of AARP’s Where We Live: Communities for All Ages series. This edition shares more than 100 articles and dozens of photographs on the ways communities throughout the U.S. are becoming great places to live for people of all ages. It also highlights mayors and other community leaders who are making this change happen. All 50 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico are featured in the book.

A laid-back favorite returns to Boise this summer: the Great Garden Escapes at the Idaho Botanical Garden, featuring live music every Thursday through September.

Across Idaho we are beginning to see more and more communities taking up projects to help make their town, city or neighborhood more livable. But many residents and local leaders are still asking themselves, “What exactly is a livable community”?

AARP Idaho is now accepting applications for the 2018 Community Challenge grant program to fund “quick-action” projects that spark change in local communities. The grant program, which is now in its second year, is part of AARP’s nationwide Livable Communities initiative, which aims to make communities great places to live for everyone.
