Making a difference where you live
AARP advocates on policy issues that matter most to Maryland residents age 50 and over and their families. In our state legislative advocacy efforts, we rely on our hundreds of volunteers and more than 800,000 members across Maryland.
Patients in Maryland hospitals spent a median time of 247 minutes in the ER before leaving. AARP will work with a coalition of other groups on legislative steps to address the problem.
AARP fought for approval and continues to push for more
April is National Volunteer Month and we could not accomplish all we do for Marylanders aged 50 plus and their families, including our members, with out our dedicated corps of volunteers. Our volunteers have stepped up mightily over the past year as we converted our programming online and helped us to continue serving the our community.
The COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect us all, and scammers continue to do all they can to take advantage of it.

AARP’s commitment to educating and advocating for people over 50 started with the National Retired Teachers Association (NRTA), which represents the interests of educators 50 and older. The organization has a national network of nearly a million retired educators and school personnel.

This group is composed of the most significant and respected leaders in the state’s business, legal and government communities, according to the paper.
AARP Maryland Announces Grant Opportunity for Quick-Action Community Improvement ProjectsApplications are currently being accepted through Wednesday, April 14, 2021, 8:00 p.m. ET.We know that it takes time to build great communities. But, we also believe that tangible improvements can spark long-term change. AARP launched the Community Challenge in 2017 to fund projects that build momentum to improve livability for all. We are excited to announce the program is back in 2021 for its fifth year and is currently accepting applications online through April 14, 8:00 p.m. ET.
