AARP Maryland is holding an exclusive telephone town hall on Wednesday, November 29 at 10:00 AM (ET) to talk about the healthcare concerns of Marylanders aged 50+ and their families, including the latest updates on Medicare. We will be joined by United States Senator for Maryland, Chris Van Hollen, to discuss this important issue.
AARP Maryland has received the 2017 Reginald F. Lewis Corporation/Organization Award from the Maryland State Conference (MSC) of the NAACP. AARP Maryland State President Clarence “Tiger” Davis and Associate State Director for Community Outreach Joy Hall accepted the award on behalf of the state office at the organization’s Freedom Fund Dinner in Columbia, MD on October 27. Held on the opening night of the MSC NAACP 77th Annual Convention, the event honors individuals and organizations that have provided exemplary service and dedication to the community in accordance with the mission of NAACP. In attendance were many of the local, state and federal elected officials who have worked the MSC NAACP on equality and justice initiatives, including U.S. Senator Ben Cardin, Maryland State Senators Delores Kelley and Joan Carter Conaway, Congressman Elijah Cummings, and Lieutenant Governor Boyd Rutherford. Former president and CEO of the NAACP Kweisi Mfume delivered a keynote message to inspire and motivate the audience.

The session will begin with an open and informal talk about our role as caregivers and where you can find support and resources, followed by a soothing session of yoga. Light refreshments will be served.
BALTIMORE (October 10, 2018) – Jasmin Marie Duckett of Baltimore has been selected by AARP, the nonprofit organization for people 50 and older, to receive the 2017 AARP Maryland Andrus Award for Community Service—the Association’s most prestigious and visible state volunteer award for community service. AARP Maryland selected Duckett for her remarkable service, including her tireless work on a series of improvements that together help to make her West Baltimore neighborhood a safer and more comfortable place to live— especially for older adults

The Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates that by 2020, approximately 50 percent of Americans will be 1099 contract workers, and we're already at 38 percent. Similarly, small businesses operated by persons 45+ may not be aware of how simple technology and business processes like mobile apps, automation and sales funnels can cause their business to EXPLODE!
Updated May 22 2017: The Spring Food Drive for 2017 is now over, and was a huge success! 30 stores across the state participated, with volunteer and food donors giving their all for this important cause.
