AARP Maryland is awarding five Baltimore City non-profits a combined $85,650 in funding as winners of AARP 2022 Community Challenge Grants. Now in its sixth year, the program supports quick-action projects that spark change and improve communities in key livability areas of public spaces, transportation, housing, civic engagement, coronavirus recovery, diversity and inclusion, plus other innovative projects.

AARP supports the LGBTQ community, advocating equality in housing, long-term care, retirement and other areas. AARP Maryland encourages residents to show pride and support on Monday, May 16, National Honor Our LGBT Elders Day.
AARP Foundation Experience Corps is comprised of volunteers who are dedicated to helping children become great readers before completing the third grade. Together, with teachers and other volunteers, they can help change the course of a child's life by sharing their time, wisdom and experience.
Projects will benefit low-income communities in Baltimore City and Howard County, including residents over the age of 50.
AARP Maryland is accelerating its multi-cultural outreach with the launch of a new Asian American Pacific Islander steering committee. Under the leadership of AARP Maryland Executive Council Member Dr. Sudha Haley, the goal of the committee is to ensure that diversity, equity, and inclusion of Maryland’s Asian American population is reflected in AARP Maryland’s outreach, planning and communications. Suresh Gupta, M.D. will serve as the Advisor to AARP Maryland’s AAPI Outreach Steering Committee.
Through August 12, AARP is accepting nominations for its 2022 Maryland Andrus Award for Community Service, which honors Marylanders aged 50+ who are sharing their experience, talent, and skills to enrich the lives of their community members.
