Those who served in the military have access to medical benefits through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, but many eligible veterans either don't know about or bother to use them.

Mississippi’s more than 200,000 military veterans and active-duty service members are at risk of being targeted by scammers. AARP recently launched the AARP Veterans Fraud Center, a new online education and resource center to help protect veterans, service members and their families against fraud.

AARP Mississippi will present a virtual event about “Aging and Mental Health” at 11 a.m. on May 11, 2022. Even before the pandemic, many older people felt the impact of social isolation.
