AARP Mississippi is inviting all Veterans in the area to attend the AARP Veterans Town Hall on Friday, June 8, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Lady Luck Casino Arena, 1380 Warrenton Road in Vicksburg. The event is free. Veterans may bring one guest. Lunch will be served.
AARP is now accepting nominations for its 2018 Mississippi Andrus Award for Community Service, which honors 50+ Mississippians who are sharing their experience, talent, and skills to enrich the lives of their community members.

Veterans may bring one guest. Lunch will be served.
(Ridgeland, MS) — The city of Gulfport has won the AARP Community Challenge, which aims to create change and improve quality of life at the community level. Gulfport won for its proposal to develop a Bark Park. Each winning project throughout the nation was partially or fully funded through the AARP Community Challenge grant and is set to be completed by November 1, 2017.
Mississippi has a poor health record, placing at or near the bottom of state rankings on obesity, cancer, diabetes and overall health. But the state excels in telehealth, and the Center for Telehealth at the University of Mississippi Medical Center ranks among the best in the nation.
