While the April 17 tax deadline is swiftly approaching, it’s not too late to get free tax assistance and preparation from AARP Taxi-Aide Foundation.
AARP Mississippi is observing Operation Stop Scams with a series of events throughout the state from April 16 – May 21. Operation Stop Scams aims to help Mississippians in the fight against fraud.

All that is required is a genuine interest in helping the community by donating your time and skills, said Associate State Director for Community Outreach Ivory Craig.
Beginning February 1 and continuing through April 17, AARP Foundation is providing free tax assistance and preparation through its Tax-Aide program. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, celebrating its 50 th year, is the nation’s largest free tax assistance and preparation service. Since its inception, the program has served more than 50 million taxpayers.
Black History Month is an annual celebration commemorating African Americans who contributed to the monumental movement of equal rights for men and women in our society. The month of February allows individuals to pay homage by reflecting on the past, while focusing on the future. In commemoration of Black History Month, AARP is offering a free admission day to the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018. The first 300 people will enter free of charge.
