With winter temperatures dropping and heating costs rising, AARP Minnesota encourages people struggling to pay their utility bills to apply for the Minnesota Energy Assistance Program.
The program helps low-income households pay their heating bills, fix broken heating equipment and avoid disconnections when late on payments. Individuals with annual income up to $22,694 and couples with income up to $29,677 may be eligible. Minnesotans can apply whether they own or rent their homes.
