Beck will guide AARP Nebraska’s efforts to serve the state’s nearly 180,000 members aged 50 and older. She will chair the Executive Council, partnering with the State Director to provide strategic vision and leadership at the state and community levels. Nebraskans age 18-plus believe that it is important to strengthen consumer protection laws to prohibit excessive annual interest rates for payday loans, according to a new AARP statewide survey of 950 Nebraska residents. Additionally, Nebraskans believe that the very high annual percentage rates payday lenders in the state can charge consumers should be capped or limited.

AARP Nebraska offers free fraud presentations to community groups year round and is now scheduling sessions for 2017. Trained volunteers are available to make AARP Fraud Watch Network presentations across the state. These sessions can help Nebraskans stay up to date on the latest scams, be safe online and take action if they spot fraud.
