AARP Eye Center
Every day, AARP fights for New Jerseyans, focused on the issues they face in their daily lives. To be successful, this work depends on the elected officials who write, support, and move legislation; who work with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to get things done; and who come together on critical votes that turn bills into law.
To recognize the state elected officials who were integral to the passage of key legislation to help Americans retire with confidence, AARP announces the 2016
class of Super Savers. This class includes elected officials in four states, including New Jersey, who helped their residents save for the future.
New Jersey Senate President Steve Sweeney and New Jersey Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto are members of the 2016 class of AARP Super Savers.
“AARP thanks Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto and Senate President Steve Sweeney for championing Secure Choice , and working to pass it in its modified form, as New Jersey Small Business Retirement Marketplace Act” says State Director Stephanie Hunsinger. “They provided critical leadership to
pass this bill and help New Jerseyans save for their future.”
The New Jersey Small Business Retirement Marketplace Act will establish a retirement savings plan marketplace to provide small businesses and their employees with access to a retirement savings plan that they not otherwise be able to afford other otherwise have access to. It was signed into law by Governor Christie in 2016.
“In 2017 and beyond, AARP will continue to work with New Jersey’s elected officials to help New Jerseyans live the life they want in retirement,” says Hunsinger.
