Americans overwhelmingly want to age at home, and AARP North Carolina is working to make that option more widely available.
AARP is advocating for reducing the waiting time for essential home- and community-based services that provide assistance to older adults so they can avoid institutionalized care.
As many as 1,500 North Carolinians may come off the waiting list for these services beginning in 2022.
AARP North Carolina also successfully pushed for additional funding for the state’s Adult Protective Services, which helps those who are experiencing elder abuse and neglect.
In 2022, AARP North Carolina will continue to focus on problems in the state’s long-term care system. Want to join the effort? Sign up for action alerts at aarp.org/getinvolved.
