Cincinnati’s Midwest Black Family Reunion is returning for its 35th year Aug. 17 to 20, and returning sponsor AARP Ohio plans to focus its outreach during the event on financial health milestones that can work to improve long-term financial security.
A celebration of Black families, the free event includes a job fair, parade, concerts, cultural activities and local vendors and organizations at various Cincinnati locations. From its booth at downtown's Sawyer Point, AARP will be highlighting free financial tools, tips and resources for visitors.
“It is never too early or too late to create a clear plan of action to achieve your financial goals,” says Nicole Ware, AARP Ohio’s associate state director for
outreach and advocacy. She also notes, “Fighting disparities is core to our social mission to empower people to choose how they live as they age.”
Eventgoers will be encouraged to create an account on AARP Money Map. The online money management resource offers guidance on handling expenses, setting a budget, ditching debt and growing savings for anyone 18 or older.
