(EDMOND, OK) – AARP Oklahoma urges OG&E customers and Oklahoma Corporation Commissioners to reject OG&E’s $92.5 million utility rate hike proposal. If approved by Corporation Commissioners, Dana Murphy, Bob Anthony, and Todd Hiett, the rate hike doubles the monthly OG&E customer charge from $13 to almost $27 and adds a costly residential demand charge.

It’s a holiday gift none of us want- a rate hike from Oklahoma Gas and Electric (OG&E) . The $92.5 proposal includes doubling customers' current fixed monthly customer charge from $13 to over $26 and adding a residential demand charge. This means before even turning on a light customers will owe OG&E more than $315 a year! It’s unjustified, unfair and we can stop it.
The Artic Blast heading for Oklahoma is forecasted to bring rain, snow showers and dangerously cold temperatures. AARP Oklahoma is advising family members, caregivers and friends to keep a close eye on older adults as they are especially vulnerable to hypothermia.
The Oklahoma Corporation Commission modified their final order regarding the Public Service Company of Oklahoma's requested $130 million utility rate hike. In addition, the Corporation Commission granted PSO’s request for an additional $22 million, which will reduce customer’s refund amount. PSO has until October 2017 to fully refund customers' money.
AARP Oklahoma is hosting a teletown hall on Wednesday, December 14 at 10am to discuss the $92.5 million rate hike proposed by OG&E. For customers, that means OG&E wants to double your customer charge to $26 a month and add a residential demand charge. The teletown hall will be hosted by AARP Oklahoma State Director Sean Voskuhl and his guest will be Deborah Thompson, who represents AARP Oklahoma at the Corporation Commission in utility matters.
