As Valentine’s Day approaches and millions of Americans meet others on matchmaking websites, dating apps and social media, 28 percent of Pennsylvania residents polled in a new AARP survey reported that they, a family member or a friend have encountered attempted financial scams while seeking friendship or love interest online.

The 2019 Vision Zero Legislative Breakfast was held on January 31 to present state and city legislative opportunities to make Philadelphia streets safer in 2019. Hosted by AARP Pennsylvania, the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, and Families for Safe Streets Greater Philadelphia, the event was well attended by state and city representatives, business leaders and advocates.

Voters age 50 and older were the deciding factor in last year’s midterm elections, according to the National Election Pool Exit Poll results. The findings confirmed that 50-plus voters made up the majority of voters in Pennsylvania (57%) and 56 percent nationally . Candidates who ignored older voters, Pennsylvania’s most powerful voting group, paid a price on Election Day.
