Reimagining the possibilities of life for Pennsylvanians
With Pennsylvania’s general election just 47 days away, data from AARP shows that voters age 50 plus decide elections, and they want politicians to address the issues that matter most to them and their families.
Each year, AARP works in partnership with local leaders, organizations, and dedicated residents to help make that vision a reality. As part of that effort, AARP is excited to announce the largest investment of grant dollars to date through the AARP Community Challenge grant program. More than $3.8 million in quick-action grants are being distributed to 343 projects across all 50 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
AARP Pennsylvania recently released key findings from its first 2024 election survey that shows candidates should pay close attention to Pennsylvanians age 50 and older. The survey also revealed that the priorities and concerns of Pennsylvania women voters 50 and older will likely influence the outcome of the 2024 election and could be the difference in this election.
AARP is fighting to ensure that you have continued access to affordable and stable electricity service in your home. Right now, the Pennsylvania legislature is considering House Bill 2104 that would protect consumers from skyrocketing electric rates.

AARP Pennsylvania today warned that a new study ranking Pennsylvania 42 nd nationally in meeting the long-term care needs of older residents calls for across the board improvements, with particular emphasis on enhancing caregiving affordability and access. The ranking comes from a new comprehensive state-by-state Scorecard from AARP with support of the nation’s leading organizations behind quality long-term care, The Commonwealth Fund and SCAN Foundation.
AARP recently held a successful “Life Reimagined” event to show people 50+ the paths to new and exciting possibilities. Over one hundred people attended the event which took place at the Bellevue Hotel in Philadelphia. AARP’s meaning for “Life Reimagined” is all about envisioning, evaluating, and making dreams a real possibility. The event’s two powerful speakers demonstrated this vision by sharing their personal stories.

More than 1.8 million Pennsylvanians are caring for frail family members, and as the population ages, even more are likely to find themselves in that role. To inform caregivers about local resources and raise public awareness of caregivers’ needs AARP Pennsylvania is sponsoring a free event in Philadelphia at the WHYY Media Commons in Philadelphia on June 9, 2014 from 10:00am-1:30pm. The featured speakers will be experts in the caregiving industry, and local providers will answer questions about in-home services.
People who sign up to volunteer with AARP Experience Corps are finding themselves back in the classroom. And they are loving it.
Come celebrate caregiving at our free AARP viewing of the inspiring play by Garrett Davis' Mama's Girls, featuring a dynamic performance from a spirit filled cast. The play addresses the struggles and hardships of caregiving, and provides information that can help those taking care of their loved ones. Mama's Girls takes you on an emotional journey as these five sisters come together to face the reality of their mother's declining health. This life changing production will have you laughing, crying, and singing along. This stage play is part of Project Prepare to Care, a collaborative effort by Gdavis Productions and AARP that seeks to raise the awareness of caregiving. AARP’s African American/Black outreach is centered around driving relevance within the African American/Black community and beyond. One way AARP accomplishes this is through our faith-based initiative being implemented across Pennsylvania, with special emphasis in Philadelphia county. AARP effectively provides relevant information and resources to African American/Black communities in many faith-based settings, familiar and trusted.
