Protect Your Identity, Shred Old Documents

OSS Shredding Email 500x500

Just after filing taxes is a good time to shred old documents to keep them from falling into the hands of identity thieves. More than 3,600 Alabamians filed complaints of identity theft to the Federal Trade Commission in 2017.

As part of Operation: Stop Scams, a nationwide series of events in April, the AARP state office is sponsoring free shredding events. Cities, dates and locations include Montgomery, on Friday, April 13, 7 a.m.-noon, at Garrett Coliseum; and Florence, Saturday, April 14, 9 a.m.-noon, at Florence-Lauderdale Coliseum.
