Hello AARP CT Volunteers
We know that some of you are eager to get back to in-person volunteering, and others are not ready, or are unsure. We are preparing now for a time in the not-too-distant future when we are back to meeting in person and hosting AARP events and activities in person.
To begin preparing, AARP has a new requirement for volunteers who wish to volunteer in person. The guidance that follows reflects AARP’s focus on your health and safety, as well as the health and safety of our staff and all those we serve.
Policy: AARP requires all volunteers to be vaccinated in order to volunteer in person. Volunteers who are not vaccinated or choose not to disclose their vaccination status are welcome to continue volunteering from home, through virtual or Hub Dialer opportunities, of which we have plenty!
Procedure: Prior to volunteering in person, volunteers will need to complete a new form, called the “AARP Volunteer Registration Form – Return to In-person Events.” In a nutshell, the form asks you to affirm that you are vaccinated. You can sign it electronically – no need to print/mail, etc.
Below are some additional details and attached is a tip sheet which includes an instructional video (thanks for the work on this Carol Ann Feldman & Elaine Werner) about where the form is located and how to complete it. A few volunteers have completed it already & they tell me it’s easy! We invite you to sign the form at any time, if you choose to do so. A signed form is required prior to any in-person volunteering, including volunteer meetings, state office visits, lobby days, etc.
There will be process for visiting the office that we are still working through. Drop ins, however, are prohibited at this time.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions, concerns or problems.
On behalf of the staff at AARP CT & State President Tia Murphy, I really want to thank you for dedicating your time, experience and skills to AARP CT.
- Full vaccination is required for volunteers to participate in any in-person activities on behalf of AARP. AARP considers an individual fully vaccinated if they have used an FDA authorized and/or approved vaccination and have or will receive all COVID-19 booster vaccinations when they become available.
- Volunteers must complete a Volunteer Registration Form, which lives in the Volunteer Portal in the Training Tab.
- To access the Volunteer Portal, enter in your browser: www.volunteer.aarp.or
- The tip sheet and accompanying video go through the process step by step
- It is strongly suggested that you read the tip sheet fully and then watch the video before completing the form
