Black History Month celebrates the rich cultural heritage, triumphs and adversities that are part of our country’s history. During Black History Month 2025, AARP is celebrating everyday people—those who tirelessly support their families, uplift their neighborhoods, and drive the progress of our nation.

AARP Pennsylvania joined Governor Josh Shapiro as he announced a significant agreement with PJM Interconnection that is aimed at protecting consumers from steep electricity price hikes. The agreement is not just a win for Pennsylvania, but for the entire PJM region, which spans 13 states and the District of Columbia. It marks a significant victory all residents, particularly older adults who are often disproportionately impacted by rising energy costs.

Last week, the volunteer advocacy team gathered in Richmond for our annual lobby week.

Governor Hochul gathered with AARP New York staff and members who presented her with a thank you card signed by 2,300 New Yorkers.

A group of AARP South Dakota volunteers will head to Pierre next week, and we'll be hosting two events where they will be able to talk with state lawmakers.
