Shred Personal Documents May 18 in Omaha

shred

AARP and Shred-it, a document destruction and recycling company, are sponsoring a shredding day in Omaha on May 18.

The eighth annual community shredding day takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the east end of the large parking lot on the top level of the Center Mall at 42nd and Center streets.

People can drive through and safely drop off documents at on-site mobile shredders; unloading assistance will be provided. There is a limit of two boxes or bags of personal documents per vehicle.

The Federal Trade Commission recommends shredding documents such as credit offers, bank statements and insurance forms to help protect against identity theft.
