As part of National Tax Identity Theft Awareness Week, AARP’s Fraud Watch Network and AARP Foundation Tax-Aide are joining forces with federal agencies to highlight the dangers of tax identity theft and recovery steps for victims.

At AARP, we believe Medicare is a deal with the American people that must not be broken.

Unfortunately, the weather prevented us from flooding the capitol with a sea of AARP red this week during our annual Lobby Day. However, an enthusiastic group of Pierre area volunteers did a wonderful job representing the more than 180 advocates who were snowed in across the state. We were joined for lunch by more than 75 Legislators with whom we discussed health care policies, issues of financial security and other AARP SD priorities.

Week 2 of the 2017 South Dakota legislative session is in the books and, as always, there is already a lot going on in Pierre.

Just last week, South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley urged caution to those trying to sell a timeshare property and today the AARP Fraud Watch Network has issued a similar warning. Buying timeshare vacation properties used to be fraught with fraud risks. Now, there are additional risks when it comes time to sell.
