Tell Your Social Security Story

On the eve of Social Security’s 78th anniversary, AARP Maine, in collaboration with the Frances Perkins Center, is encouraging residents to describe how the landmark program has improved their lives as part of the “Social Security Stories Project.”

The Frances Perkins Center will share these stories with lawmakers to encourage them to protect the program for current beneficiaries and secure its solvency for future generations.

One-third of Mainers age 65-plus rely solely on Social Security for their income.

The center is looking for stories of 400 words or less or about three minutes of video. AARP members in Maine who are interested in sharing their stories should go to socialsecuritystories.org or call 207-208-8955.
