Art of Healthy Aging Summer Series

Are you interested in living a healthy and happy lifestyle as you age? If so, you may want to sign up for the 2020 “virtual” Art of Healthy Aging Summer Series. Hosted by the Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia, this three-part event intends to bring you various resources related to health, safety, security, nutrition, and joyful living. You’ll be able to attend on the following dates: Wednesday, August 19; Wednesday, September 9; and Wednesday, September 30. On each date, you can join by simply going to and clicking on the homepage link for SUMMER SERIES. If you are unable to join during those dates, you can check your city’s public access television station for program availability after the original air dates.

The series’ kickoff on August 19 will occur from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. and will feature various keynote speakers, including Dr. Alan Wagner, Carolyn Harper, and Emily A. Martin. Dr. Wagner, founder of the Wagner Macula & Retina Center, will take the lead on the “Vision Health As We Age” segment. Harper, a Zumba instructor, will discuss the importance of dance and exercise in her “Movement Matters!” presentation. Additionally, Martin (Esq. Hook Law) will discuss why stimulus payments belong to you, and not the nursing home. If these speakers appeal to you, there will be many more from the event’s sponsors, such as AARP, Sight Forever, and Anthem HealthKeepers Plus. If you would like more information, please call 757-963-9220.
