Virginians older than 50 are often hit with a double whammy—the price of prescription drugs plus the stress of caring for ill loved ones.
AARP Virginia is working to ease both burdens and is looking for older adults to tell their stories to help lawmakers understand the need for relief.
Virginia’s more than 1 million family caregivers are taking a financial hit, too, providing $11.8 billion yearly in unpaid service.
AARP Virginia is advocating to lower the costs of prescription drugs, as well as urging lawmakers to approve a state tax credit to help family caregivers.
The proposed legislation would provide a tax credit of up to $1,000.
